The Official [Interzone:Club Industrial] Mailing List
-----------------------------------------------------
BUILD 951227
Bet you'd just about forgotten all about Interzone, huh? Well, these things
have a way of coming back to haunt you.
"Junk", as few of you know, was the name we were going to use for the
Interzone Magazine -- one of the many Interzone projects that never got off
the ground. "JUNK:MAIL" is the electronic equivalent. It's (going to be) a
semi-regular text document which discusses the electronic/industrial/techno/
goth/alternative scene in Perth and perhaps Australia-/World-Wide.
To start us off, some news.
NEWS-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dominion:
---------
Ex-IZ DJs Brad, Claudine, James & Nathan, in association with Gorgon
Records, are planning a Gothic/Industrial BYO Club (currently called
"Dominion") to run regularly in the basement of the Alysian Empire building
in William Street. Dates, Times, Details etc. are forthcoming.
The club will present an (invitation-only?) preview on XMas Eve 1995.
Clan Perth:
-----------
Members of a number of Perth Electronic/Industrial Bands have announced
plans to establish a Clan Analogue (http://sysx.apana.org.au/clan) branch
in Perth. This collective, originating in Sydney but with branches
worldwide, exists to promote and coordinate electronic musicians, artists
and DJs. Clan Perth will run a regular event to showcase the talents of
its members. The current favoured venue is the Old Customs House, Freo.
The group ran a successful and entertaining private party on XMas Eve 95
which was reminiscent of the very best of Interzone's "Wasteland" gigs.
STUFF------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Great Venue Hunt:
---------------------
Interzone is currently in hibernation, seeking an appropriate venue. We
need a sizeable venue with an Accommodation Notice for at least 300 people
(when running as a Nightclub). Our massive losses in the Murray Street
venue (mainly due to our sizeable investment in plumbing, aircon, emergency
lights, fire systems etc.) has left us very reticent to spend big on a
decorating a new venue, so it should be usable with no more than a few
hundred dollars worth of changes. This is a hard ask, we know. Nevertheless
we're confident we will find a venue (maybe with your help) by mid-96.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, that's a quick example of the kind of stuff JUNK:MAIL is going to
contain. This first edition (BUILD 951227 -- don't you just love geek-speak?)
exists primarily to test the mailing list, to see who's interested and who's
not. I'm looking for feedback too (see below), so bang off a reply if this is
of even vague interest to you.
Cya,
JEREMY
(Jeremy G Byrne)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHO IS JEREMY G BYRNE AND WHY IS HE SENDING THESE TERRIBLE THINGS TO ME?
Well might you ask. I guess I'm kinda the online Interzone contact. I main-
tain the website (http://www.midnight.com.au/interzone) and now this
Mailing List (the subscribers to JUNK:MAIL), and I answer correspondance
directed to our email account (interzone@midnight.com.au). You're getting
this because I have discovered your email address in some ancient and hoary
old communication which links you with Interzone (it might have been the
old Mailing List, the list we collected at "The Terminal Birthday Party" in
March 95, or it might have been some other, even more obscure source). If
you don't want to get this any more, please post to interzone@ with
"UNSUBSCRIBE" in the Subject Line and your email address in the body of the
message. If you want to sign someone else up, do the same except put
"SUBSCRIBE" in the Subject Line. If you've got something you'd like to say
to everyone on the list, post it to interzone@ with "CONTENT" in the
Subject Line. Messages arriving without "CONTENT" in the Subject Line may
still find their way into JUNK:MAIL unless you state "not for publication"
clearly in the body of the message.
NB: for those of you clever enough to notice the "izlist@" in the "From:"
line, please ignore this for the moment. I'll let you know when the list
is working properly. For now, just post everything to interzone@. Thanx.
